Green Uday Samudra (GUDS): A commitment to save the Mother Earth

Green UDS (GUDS) is a dedicated initiative by UDS, a 4 star property, located right on the beach front of the world famous Kovalam Beach. It is a registered society under Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific and charitable Societies Registration Act (Act 12 of 1955).

The functional jurisdiction of the society is entire state of Kerala. GUDS is a committed endeavor to protect the mother earth for the future generations to come. "It is a venture for nurturing responsible citizens to contribute towards reducing the global warming impact on earth and help the mankind to survive better. With the support of people from all walks of life we are confident that GUDS' efforts will help to reverse the environmental deterioration of our planet", feels Raja Gopaal Iyer, Executive President, Green Uday Samudra (GUDS).

The project is dedicated to create responsible corporate citizens who are willing to volunteer their efforts to minimize the Global Warming and its effects for the benefit of mankind.

Some of the main objectives of GUDS include, undertake sustainable and responsible tourism-going green, conduct training programmes for students and make them associate in waste disposal, effluent treatment etc, undertake earth caring works in schools and public places, foster schools to educate children on good earth saving practices, cultivate universal human spirit, promote the conservation of biological diversity of our country, enhance leadership qualities of the youth to fight against excessive resource exploitation, depletion and degradation of natural resources base, pollution etc, bring maximum land under tree cover, enlighten children and public in crisis management generated by natural calamities and establish a 'earth centre' (knowledge centre) useful for researchers and students.

GUDS plans to conduct on World Environment Day, June 5, 2009, The Green Kerala Race-a marathon race from Chandrashekaran Nair Stadium to Kowdiar Palace. "This is intended to generate public involvement in Environmental issues and especially to make aware the people about the need to put hands together for a Greener Kerala. For the past 4 years we conduct the same thing to generate public awareness. But this time we solicit the presence and dedicated participation of all prime personalities and corporate identities for the same. We look forward for the corporation of everyone from everywhere in Kerala - personalities from the fields like film, politics, art, airlines, Travel agents, hospitals, schools, colleges, merchant associations, all are cordially invited" Mr. Iyer added.
