The Beach Orchid wins International Award in the very first year of operation

The Beach Orchid Hotel, Kollam, Kerala has won the prestigious international Gold Star Millennium award in the very first year of operation in honour of their outstanding dedication and commitment to environmental causes and excellence in the hospitality industry. Dr Geeta Reddy the Honourable Minister for Heavy Industry, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh and former Union Minister M V Raja Sekharan and the Indian High Commissioner at Bangkok in a grand function held at Holiday Inn Hotel, Bangkok, has presented the award to the hotel.

K Sreekumar, CMD of the hotel received the award on behalf of the hotel.

Environmental initiatives such as energy-efficient schemes, re-using of all discharged and waste for gardening purpose after proper water treatment, adoption of a zero garbage policy, using aerators and flow restrictors in all taps have earned The Orchid an Ecotel tag. All the 95 rooms are built facing seven wonder views of sea, beach, park, harbour, greenery, backwaters and city. The Lobby, restaurant and rooms are so designed and arranged so that the daylight enters and light up the interior in a most natural way, which reduces the needs for artificial lighting during the daytime.

The Beach Orchid hotel, situated at the heart of Kollam city, 'Ancient Port Town', trumpets nothing but the ancient grandeur and warmth of erstwhile Deshinganadu province. This business cum leisure hotel is ideally located on the serene beach at Kollam with the pulsating Arabian Sea on one side, M G Park and the main city on the other sides and the national waterway right in front of the hotel offering entry to the internationally known Kerala backwaters. It is only 65 kms away from the Thiruvanathapuram International airport, and is easily accessible by road, rail, sea and backwaters from other important towns of Kerala.

Some of the facilities here include multi-cuisine restaurant, coffee shop, a roof top pool, an infinity swimming pool, international spa and Kerala ayurvedic centre health and beauty saloons. The concept of MICE tourism is incorporated here with full-size international convention centre that can accommodate up to 1,500 people, one of the biggest beachside business facilities in south. The other seven conference halls of different capacities provide variety to conferencing.
