Goa Tourism joins hand with IndiSmart Group to promote state in West Bengal

EH STAFF - Kolkata

Goa Tourism has joined hands with Kolkata-based IndiSmart Group to jointly promote 'Goa' as a holiday destination among the Bengalis.

"Bengalis comprise the largest chunk of inbound domestic tourists visiting Goa. Therefore we have worked out a strategy to promote Goa in the state," Elvis Gomes, director of tourism, Goa Tourism told Express Hospitality.

"There is long term relationship between people from Bengal and Goa - call it lifestyle, culture or cuisine. The Bengalis are rated high in Goa amongst the domestic tourists visiting Goa constituting about 30 per cent of our domestic inbound tourists," added Gomes.

As a part of the joint promotional campaign, Goa Tourism and IAM Hotel School, the leading hospitality management school under the IndiSmart umbrella hosted 'Goa Fiesta 2008', an evening of Goan cuisine, culture and entertainment at the city's Nicco Park.

The Goa Fiesta showcased an array of delicacies cooked by chefs from around Goa and Goan dancers were also flown in specially for the event.
