Jumeirah,
the fast growing Dubai-based luxury international hospitality management group
and a member of Dubai Holding, was recently named 'Corporate Employer of the
Year 2007' by the British Association of Hospitality Accountants (BAHA).
The award recognises Jumeirah's commitment in promoting and developing financial
education in the hospitality industry. Nominees in this category had to actively
promote and sponsor education and development, operate a monitoring scheme,
have a written education and development policy, and recognise and reward success
and achievement.
"Jumeirah currently employs over 10,000 colleagues from
over 100 nationalities and this number will rise to 55,000 as the company starts
to operate new properties around the world," explained Guy Crawford, chief
executive officer, "which means that we have to put a lot of emphasis on
recruitment, retention, talent management and career development."
The Jumeirah group has a dedicated, fully equipped, state-of-the-art
Centre for Training & Development offering a wide array of training programmes
for colleagues at all levels in the organisation. Programmes include IT training,
language courses, customer service training, supervisory programmes, leadership
excellence programmes, cultural awareness training and a host of other courses.
In addition, Jumeirah offers a dedicated Management Trainee Programme, allowing
fresh graduates to join the organisation and train in a variety of departments
depending on their area of focus. The programme is also open for high-performing
colleagues that are already employed by Jumeirah.
