FHRAI IHM to offer specialised programmes, MBA

Praveen K Singh - New Delhi

The FHRAI Institute of Hospitality Management plans to offer specialised programmes as well as a two-year MBA in hospitality management by next session. Informing about the new courses, Dr Jagmohan Negi, adviser to FHRAI IHM, told Express Hospitality, "The one and a half years specialised courses will be on various subjects like skill development, culinary arts, bartending, bakery and confectionery, and interior designing and landscaping. Till now, no such courses are being offered in the industry."

The institute would also offer research and training programmes in collaboration with hotel companies for one to three months. "We are also looking for a tie-up with international or any competent national university for an MBA programme," told Dr Negi.

FHRAI IHM offers programme in International Hospitality Administration and International Culinary Administration, certified by Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), Switzerland.

The existing programmes include: four-year programme in International Hospitality Administration, four-year programme in International Culinary Administration, and BA (Tourism) degree in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). Dr Negi added that the institute is continuously exploring options for development of hotel employees and said, "We will therefore launch more specialised and skill development programmes for industry professionals."
