FHRAI IHM to offer specialised programmes, MBA

The FHRAI Institute of Hospitality Management plans to offer specialised programmes
as well as a two-year MBA in hospitality management by next session. Informing
about the new courses, Dr Jagmohan Negi, adviser to FHRAI IHM, told Express
Hospitality, "The one and a half years specialised courses will be on various
subjects like skill development, culinary arts, bartending, bakery and confectionery,
and interior designing and landscaping. Till now, no such courses are being
offered in the industry."
The institute would also offer research and training programmes in collaboration
with hotel companies for one to three months. "We are also looking for
a tie-up with international or any competent national university for an MBA
programme," told Dr Negi.
FHRAI IHM offers programme in International Hospitality Administration and International
Culinary Administration, certified by Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne
(EHL), Switzerland.
The existing programmes include: four-year programme in International Hospitality
Administration, four-year programme in International Culinary Administration,
and BA (Tourism) degree in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Open University
(IGNOU). Dr Negi added that the institute is continuously exploring options
for development of hotel employees and said, "We will therefore launch
more specialised and skill development programmes for industry professionals."
