WORLDHOTELS enters India, ties up with The Claridges Hotels

Praveen K Singh - New Delhi

WORLDHOTELS entered India with a tie-up with Delhi-based The Claridges Hotels and Resorts, making them the first Indian hotels to join the WORLDHOTELS portfolio. The company will market three properties of The Claridges, namely, The Claridges New Delhi, The Claridges Surajkund (opening in autumn 2008) and Atrium Hotel & Conferencing. "The New Delhi and Surajkund properties of The Claridges will fall under the Deluxe collection, while the Atruim will be among First Class collection," informed Roland Jegge, vice president - Asia Pacific of WORLDHOTELS. Discussing the details of the tie up Peter Leitgeb, president and CEO of The Claridges Hotels & Resorts said, "The tenure of the alliance is five years initially, which can be extended with review later on."

As to why the WORLDHOTELS chose The Claridges, Jegge said, "We were approached by several other hotel companies, but we were looking for right time and right partner to enter the remarkable Indian market. This small but luxurious hospitality group superbly compliments our expanding portfolio of over 500 of the world's most interesting and unique hotels." He also informed that the company would have more association with Indian hotels in the future.

WORLDHOTELS started in 1970 and today it is one of the global groups for independent hotels and regional hotel brands, supporting over 500 hotels worldwide with a service-oriented sales system, reservations technology and dynamic international sales and marketing activities.
