'Atithi 07', the second annual national hospitality conference
hosted by Kohinoor - IMI School of Hospitality Management was held recently
at the activity centre of Kohinoor Global Campus, Khandala. The theme of 'Atithi
07' was 'Hospitality Industry - The Crux of the Service Industry'. The goal
was to provide a national forum for academicians, professionals, entrepreneurs
and students to discuss various issues and topics in the field of hospitality.
The two-day national event was graced by prominent personalities,
like chief guest Dr Pandit Palande, pro-vice chancellor of Yashwantrao Chavan
Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU), professor Atanu Ghosh, associate professor,
School of Management, IIT, Bombay and advisor to the director IIT, Unmesh Joshi,
Kohinoor CMD, Jiten Acharya, principal, Kohinoor - IMI School of Hospitality
Management, Dr B P Verma, director, Kohinoor Business School, among other dignitaries.
Dr Palande enlightened the audience about the gradual changes over the years
in education, while Unmesh Joshi stressed on the growing importance and potential
of the upcoming services sector, contributing the lion's share to the national
GDP.
The conference proved to be highly informative and educative, with prominent
speakers from reputed institutions presenting their papers on various aspects
of hospitality, followed by interesting question-answer sessions.
