MaidoIndia focuses on institutional F&B segment

Sanjeev Bhar - New Delhi

MaidoIndia by Japan-based Maido Enterprises is actively looking to bring Japanese F&B products to India. According to Harry Cheng, partner of MaidoIndia, the potential for Japanese products in India is huge. "We are targeting hotels, upscale restaurants and outdoor caterers apart from promoting them through hotel management institutes," he said. Among the products the company offers is cooking wine, soy bean sauce, vinegar, flour, dry spices, etc.

The company is looking to expand its operations and has set up office in Mumbai with partner Anup Jatia of Jatia group of companies. "We are planning to identify two new distributors for alcoholic beverages from Japan in Delhi and Mumbai to take care of the north and south-west regions," informed Cheng.

The company will also promote Japanese food service equipment and enter the allied segment to bring unique products in the already competitive market cluttered with European and Chinese brands. It also supplies equipment on rent as a distinct business proposition. According to Cheng, Japanese equipment like Mobile Sushi Conveyer Belt or Charcoal Grill for Robala cooking are unique and Japanese companies are known for that. MaidoIndia also sells products through its website.
