India, Japan strengthen ties with India Tourism conference

EH Staff - Tokyo

The India Tourism Conference, organised by FICCI, was part of the official programme of JATA (Japan Association of Travel Agents) World Travel Fair 2007, to commemorate the `India-Japan Friendship and Exchange year'. The conference focused on promoting Indo-Japanese tourism and on important issues like infrastructure, experience and information to attract more tourists to India.

While Jyotsna Suri, chairperson (Tourism Committee) of FICCI and chairperson and managing director, The Grand Group - a Bharat Hotels enterprise, led the delegation, Ambika Soni, minister for tourism & culture, Government of India, inaugurated the conference.

Suri laid emphasis on six key elements - air connectivity, rail network, road infrastructure, accommodation product development and marketing. Further, during the business session, in the product offering section, she highlighted the efforts of The Grand group. Interesting elements of the product offering was that all the business collaterals, corporate films, etc, for The Grand group, were presented with Japanese translations.
