Clarks Group sets up world's largest branded home-stay project

Over 200 homes listed in Jaipur, 10 Pride Homes in Delhi

Praveen K Singh - New Delhi

The Clarks Group of Hotels has launched a home-stay programme, branded Jaipur Pride Project, in Jaipur and Delhi that involves local people directly. Apurv Kumar, managing director of Clarks Group of Hotels, says, "The project is about giving travellers the opportunity to become part of the city as soon as they arrive. Beginning with living in family homes in Jaipur and Delhi that have been carefully screened, the experience only gets better with giving visitors an insight into the best shopping areas, arts and culture, and entertainment in the city at the best prices."

He explains that there could not have been a better place than Jaipur to launch the first consolidated 'Organic Hospitality' project and definitely no better time. There are over 200 homes located in different parts of Jaipur and in Delhi there are 10 Pride Homes located in Jungpura, Nizamuddin West and Defence Colony. "Homeowners are trained to understand cultural differences and accommodate for specific preferences of guests, whether it is food or privacy," tells Kumar.

Pride Homes offer three categories - Pride Rooms, Pride Deluxe and Pride Luxury. The Jaipur Pride network consists of homeowners, shops, service providers and artisans. While the homeowners provide quality home-cooked food and housekeeping services to visitors, shops, service providers and artisans provide a wholesome experience to visitors.

"Service providers could be a small local laundry or a single person providing ironing services, a large travel agency or bank. Similarly, artisans are local crafts persons and masters who contribute to the art and culture through the city's resident handicrafts," concludes Kumar.
