EH STAFF - Mumbai

US-based Wyndham Hotel Group International has plans to launch its upmarket and worldwide brand Wyndham Hotels and Resorts in the country soon. Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, a four-star upscale brand of the Wyndham Hotel Group, which caters to business and leisure travellers, comes after the Ramada, Super 8 and Days Inn brands that were launched here over the past year.

"There is a healthy market for our hotels in India," said a Wyndham group executive, recollecting their recent seven year agreement with engineering and construction major Gammon India, to launch the Super 8 and Days Inn brands in India.

Gammon India, who will own and manage the group's 40 properties in India which will comprise of highway hotels, each with around 61 rooms, priced between Rs 1,200 and Rs 1,500, has a Rs 400 crore stake in the project and also plans to float a separate entity for its hospitality venture. Wyndham, on the other hand, will provide operational, sales and marketing support.

The first hotel is slated to be commissioned within the next 15-18 months.
