Sarovar Hotels aims for 20 new properties by 2010

Makes debut into serviced apartments

Sarovar Hotels has etched out aggressive expansion plans in the southern states and aims to establish 20 new properties by the year 2010. The group is also foraying into the serviced apartment sector with the launch of Park Inn Suites in Bangalore.

Informs Ajay Bakaya, its executive director, "As part of this plan, we will launch four new hotels by the end of 2007. Hence, we will be operating 34 hotels with 3,250 rooms by this year-end. Currently, our main aim is to strengthen our presence in cities and towns across India with our diverse brands."

The initial four properties to be launched by this year-end include Hometel in Hyderabad (Ameerpet) this November, Hometel in Mumbai (Malad) this December, Grand Sarovar Premiere in Mumbai (Goregaon West) this November, and Savannah Sarovar Premiere in Bangalore (Whitefield). Bakaya added, "Apart from the management route, Sarovar will also be investing in our own hotels too. The first foray into ownership with Sarovar Portico in Indore is already operational."
