EH staff - New Delhi
Canard-Duchêne,
a well-known French champagne, has been launched in India by Finewinesnmore
(FWM). This was confirmed by Dharti Desai, who is the co-founder and CEO of
FWM.
Explaining the history of Canard-Duchêne, Stephanie Federhpil, its international
sales manager and a fine wine connoisseur, said, "Founded in 1868 in Ludes,
Canard-Duchêne started because of a love story between Victor Canard and
Léonie Duchêne, daughter of a family of winemakers in Ludes, who
put their names together and found this Champagne House."
She informed that the take-over by the independent Champagne group Thiénot
in October 2003, has strengthened the position of the Canard-Duchêne House
in its region and given it new ambitions. More than ever, Canard-Duchêne,
is a brand which is both stylistic and chic in presentation and warm in its
offering. In 1890, their son Edmond brought international fame to the House
and even penetrated the closed circle of the suppliers to the Court of Tsar
Nicolas II. Hence the two-headed eagle, emblem of the Russian imperial family,
which has been present on the labels since that time. At this period, the method
of using a sabre to open the bottle was also invented, and it still remains
a symbol of the House.
The range of Canard- Duchêne include - Canard Duchêne Brut, which
has fresh fruit flavours mingled with buttery toast notes; Canard Duchêne
Rose, which is a powerful, full-bodied wine, with flavours reminiscent of crystallised
fruit; Grand Cuvée Charles VII Brut, which is dominated by elegance and
finesse, Grand Cuvée Charles VII Rose, a wine that conveys great elegance
through its fruity character.
FWM, which is an F&B management company and one of the distributor and marketer
of imported wines and spirits in India, offers a wide bouquet of wines from
its 130 labels, some of which are exclusive. In addition to wines, FWM also
offers premium champagnes, like Canard-Duchêne and Veuve Devaux and top
quality liquors such as Martinique Rum, Grappas, Limoncello, etc.
