What's happening in Mumbai’s hotels? A peek into the party circuit and events in the city...

Happy birthday

Anu Malik and Abhijeet Sawant at the Boogie Woogie party

The ballroom of JW Marriott was the chosen venue for Sony TV to celebrate the 11th anniversary of Sansui Boogie Woogie, the popular dance show on small screen. Javed Jaffery, Naved Jaffery and Ravi Behl, the trio behind the show, were there along with many others like Tabassum and granddaughter Kushi, Vikas Bhalla, Shveta Salve and Rodney Barnes, Baba Sehgal, Karisma Tanna, Shakti Kapoor, Divya Dutta, Brinda Parekh. Shamita Bangargi and husband Aashish Chowdhary, Chetan Hansraj and wife Lavina, Dalip Thahil, Anu Malik, model sisters Aditi and Arzoo Govtirikar, Nethra Raghuraman, Bharat Dhabolkar and Ananya Dutt, Archana Puran Singh, Rakshanda Khan, Abhijeet Sawant, Rahul Dev, Arshad Warsi, Johnny Lever and Shekhar Suman. Yes, the guest list went on and on, as did the party.

Hair flair

Shamita Singha, Christian Georgio, Nina Manuel and Anchal Kumar at Grand Hyatt

International hairstylist Christian Georgio was in action at his salon at Grand Hyatt, that looked like a lounge with its slate, glass and steel décor. He worked his magic on four models: Anchal Kumar- given an innocent look, Shamita Singha transformed into a Greek goddess, Nina Manuel made to appear like a rocker and Sahil Shroff given a simple, and less-is-more look. The buzz was on about the trends of the season: for women it's a wavy, shiny, wake-up bedroom look with a romantic and innocent feel that could be spiced with accessories like soft headbands or ribbons, the hairstyle complemented with makeup like a bright and juicy colour range from Mac and good use of eyeliners. And for men recommended was a cropped suave look, clean and hassle-free.

Stars and charity

Rakshanda Khan, Shamita Singha and Anita Dongre at Zenzi

Salman Khan was the star attraction at Zenzi as global luggage brand American Tourister teamed up with Aseema, the NGO that facilitates better living for underprivileged street children. Also supporting the charitable cause were Rakshanda Khan, designer Anita Dongre and TV show anchor Shamita Singha who had helped create a range of products that were sold to raise funds for the cause. On view were some paintings created by the talented children. Others present included fitness expert Leena Mogre, actor Brinda Parekh, jewellery designers Poonam Soni and Kriti Soni, actor Rohit Roy, model Niketan Madhok, Vikaas Kalantri with Pooja Ghai and model-turned-designer Reshma Bombaywala.

Monsoon splash

Rozza Catalano, Zayed Khan and Chef Max at Olive

Along with rains came the brand new monsoon menu at Olive with Chef Massimiliano Oriati, better known as Chef Max, dishing out his seasonal offering. There were birds galore with quail, guinea fowl and duck on the menu. The party, hosted by A D Singh, attracted all the usual suspects at this Mediterranean-style eatery and bar and a few more for good measure. There was Pooja Bedi with her boyfriend Hanif Hilal, foodie Prahlad Kakar, Rozza Catalano who seems to have become a regular at Olive, Kelly Dorji, Dino Morea, Ila and Ishita Arun, Fahad Samar, Nethra Raghuraman, Brinda Parekh, Reshma Bombaywala and Monica Vaziralli among many more. All in all, a tasteful night out on the town.
