AICI holds its first AGM and elections

The Association of Indian Cleaning Industry (AICI), an association formed exclusively for and by the cleaning industry of India, had its first annual general meeting and elections for the office bearers for 2007 -09 at the MIG Cricket Club, Mumbai.

The new office bearers include Dr J P S Bakshi as the president, Imtiyaz Sayyad, deputy general manager (corporate care division) Eureka Forbes as the vice president, Saji Sebastian, director, Pioneer hospitality as the honorary secretary and Roomy Daruwalla, managing director, CNCS facility solutions, as the treasurer.

Other elected members include Venu Madhavan of Roots Multiclean Debtosh Chatterjee of Chatterjee Cleaning Arts Services, O P Sabu of Soma Specialities, Sunil Puri, Galileo Associates and Ali Rangoonwala, director (marketing), Altret performance chemicals. The group plans to bring under its purview, the service providers, cleaners and cleaning agent manufacturers, machine and equipment manufacturers and management institutions. The broad objective of the association is to promote the interests and general welfare of the Indian cleaning industry, to be government-recognised, industry and community levels and to advise the government of any future amendments affecting the industries of the association.

The annual general meeting discussed the round-up and the work done to create awareness about the cleaning industry in the masses. Puri said that there is a need for such an association since it is the most fragmented industry with no rules and guidelines.
