French wine producers look to promote Bordeaux, Aquitaine produce

EH Staff - New Delhi

The growing wine demand in the Indian circuit has caught the imagination of the French wine producers. They will showcase unlearnt wines for the Indian market through Bordeaux & Aquitaine Wine, India 2007, which will be held in New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore during November 13-17 this year. The event will showcase Bordeaux and Aquitaine wines from France through the Proximum Group - a business convention organiser based in Paris, Beijing and Torino. This trade event is supported by Le Conseil Régional des Vins d'Aquitaine (CRVA) and AAPrA (Association Aquitaine de Promotion Agroalimentaire).

The event is being organised in association with Encircle Events and Marketing Communications in India. Mahek Saxena, CEO of the company, felt that the Indian consumers are embracing the art of wine drinking vis-à-vis other alcoholic beverages, which offers an opportune moment to promote unique offerings from French wine regions of Bordeaux and Aquitaine. Saxena informs, "The event will feature 40 wine producers from the two regions of France showcasing three to four wines by each producer. The event aims at providing a bilateral platform to Bordeaux wine makers and Indian connoisseurs and opinion makers to interact and exchange reviews on the wines showcased, through pre-arranged business meetings and wine tasting."

The convention proposes to facilitate trade opportunities between French wine producers and Indian wine importers and other wine trading organisations apart from the hotel and restaurant professionals in India. She adds, "The hotels and restaurants provide a conducive ambience and are the first touch-point (in most cases) for selection of wines. Hence, we are looking forward to participation from hotel and restaurant professionals as they are the important to recommend to all leading wine importers about any good wine, which deserves to be on their wine lists." The company is in talks with many Indian associations who have similar goals of disseminating awareness and inculcating wine culture.
