Special fragrances for hospitality

Ripple fragrances, a division of the Mysore-based fragrance makers NR group, has started an initiative of Brand Signature Fragrances named Iris. Some of the new delivery systems it is looking at includes reed diffusers, vapourisers, pot pourries, incenses etc. Its CEO, Kiran Ranga says that a lot of emphasis is given to the ambience of a property, the guest also looks at the visual and audio cues but no one uses the olfactory senses. "We plan to introduce fragrances to communicate brand identities," adds Ranga.

The group has already created a brand signature fragrance for Bangalore-based apparel company, Urban Yoga. Ranga said, "Companies give us a brief about what it is all about and we conduct surveys on the kind of consumers they have, and what is their socio-economic situation and a psychographic analysis."

Ranga says, "The possibilities for a product like this in the hospitality industry are immense. These fragrances can be used in hotels, airlines and large institutions." He adds that if a brand selects a fragrance, all properties under the brand will have the same fragrance, hence creating a brand identity of its own. Ripple fragrances are already in talks with prominent hotel chains and spa. The company has six sales teams all over the country. It also has a retail sales plan where it is looking at shop-in-shops system in department stores, wellness stores, home décor stores and high-end boutiques.

Environmentally sustainable chair

Haworth has launched Zody, an environmentally sustainable and ergonomically advanced chair, in India.

Zody uses a system called PAL, an asymmetrical lumbar support system, allowing the user to increase support to either side of the lower back independently, depending on preference. The system is a result of a joint study between Haworth and The Human Performance Institute of Western Michigan University.

Before being approved for use, each and every material used in the manufacture of Zody, was rigorously examined down to the 100 parts per million levels for human and environmental health. The components used are easily replaced or repaired, and a concurrently established take-back programme ensures that the chair can be broken down into its constituent parts in 15 minutes, and can be properly recycled at the end of its life.

Zody is currently manufactured in Haworth's facility in Michigan, USA and Shanghai. In India, it is available at Haworth showrooms in New Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Chennai.
