Living Liquidz plans to open 500 stores by next year

Dinkar Farwaha - Mumbai

Wine retailer Living Liquidz is looking at opening 500 stores across the country by next year. The company, which retails over 500 different types of wine brands, plans to make available wines and spirits accessible to the common man by introducing the 'shop-in-shop' concept. "Living Liquidz will be available at major outlets of Spencer's, Food Land and Spinach hypermarkets," says Mokssh Sani, its managing director.

The company, which currently has eight stores in Mumbai, plans to set up over 160 retail points in Mumbai and Pune itself by mid-2008. Meanwhile, the company also has plans to open wine stores in all the major cities in the country. "We are looking at opening 500 stores across the country by end-2008 and are eyeing cities such as Bangalore, Hyderabad, Goa, New Delhi, Chandigarh, Chennai and Kolkata," says Sani.

Also, the company is offering wines, spirits and imported liquor at off-the-shelf prices. "We are offering a 10 per cent price advantage to the buyers who order on our website and a seven per cent discount for the boutique shoppers," says Sani. "Moreover, we will have a privileged membership scheme, where we will offer points and rewards to the buyer," he continues.

The company is even introducing personal computers in all its stores to educate and inform people about wine. "We believe that the user must know about the product before they buy it and therefore we are setting up computers. Visitors in the shop can key in queries in the search engine and know the details about all kinds of wines," concludes Sani.
