Air-conditioning, refrigeration in hospitality to grow sharply

EH Staff - New Delhi

Air-conditioning and refrigeration are one of the key components of the hospitality sector and the All India Air-conditioning & Refrigeration Association (AIACRA) expects the business to grow sharply. Rajender Mittal of Mittal International, who has been re-appointed as president of AIACRA, said, "We are expecting the air-conditioning, heating and refrigeration industry to grow at 25 per cent per year. The good part is that countries like Korea and China, that are also on a growth phase, are to co-operate with us."

India is going to host ACREX 2008 in Bangalore from February 15-18, and Korea has become the partner country for the event and is expected to bring a large delegation. "Iinternational participation would also augur the growth of this industry in India. In order to take India's growth in this segment, AIACRA has signed an MoU with the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration & Air-conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE - Pakistan Chapter)," he informed.

AIACRA is a 45-year old association and has 1,000 members all over India. This is the only association in the HVAC or Air-conditioning and Refrigeration Trade & Industry in India. It has also co-operation agreements with Chinese Association of Refrigeration (CAR) and China Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Industry Association (CRAA).
