The Kenilworth Beach Resort and Spa, Goa has announced the appointment of Bill Marchetti as the executive chef. Known as the godfather of Italian cuisine, Bill Marchetti has been the executive chef, Italian Cuisine, at the ITC Maurya Sheraton in New Delhi for 5 years.
IHG
IHG, the world's largest hotel group by number of rooms, has announced the appointment of Thomas Schmelter as general manager of Crowne Plaza Today Gurgaon to be launched mid 2007. In his new responsibility, Thomas will be responsible for managing the brand defining new Crowne Plaza Today Gurgaon. He has been part of the IHG group since 1989.
Markus Mueller has been appointed director of sales and marketing for IHG south west asia. In his new role, Markus will be responsible for sales & marketing activities in the South West Asia region comprising of India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan. He will also play a strategic role in opening Crowne Plaza Today Gurgaon mid of this year.
AIHM&CT
Army Insitute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, Bangalore has appointed Murali J as principal.

Murali holds a degree in economics and a diploma in hotel management and a post graduate diploma in tourism and travel having worked for 30 years in the hospitality industry, both in India and abroad. He will help in setting professional standards and thereby take AWES managed institute of hotel management to a higher level of efficiency.
Berggruen Hotels
Alexander Joshi has joined Berggruen Hotels as director - operations. Berggruen Hotels, backed by Berggruen Holdings Inc with an equity capital of US$ 100 million, recently announced plans to operate 38 hotels in the next five years under the brand Keys. Joshi will report to Sanjay Sethi, CEO Berggruen Hotels. Joshi has worked in various positions with Oberoi Hotels & Taj Hotels and most recently at The Kurumba Maldives.
Ministry of Tourism
Leena Nandan who has taken over as joint secretary, ministry of tourism, government of India, effective April 1 2007. She brings with her 19 years of experience; she is a qualified IAS of 1987 UP cadre and has been on central deputation with the
ministry of tourism as a director since 2004.
