The
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has appointed Andrew Gibson as group
director of spa. He has been appointed to lead and manage the global
activities of Mandarin Oriental's luxury spa division. He is a well-known
and respected spa
professional with 25 years of experience. Gibson was most recently a partner
and CEO with Raison d'Etre Spas Discovery, a spa consultancy and management
services company based in Thailand. From 2003 to 2006, he was MD of Six
Senses Spas, Thailand. |
Carlson
Hotels Worldwide (Asia Pacific) has announced the appointment of Grant
Gaskin to the position of managing director, Radisson Plaza Xing Guo
Hotel Shanghai. He will be responsible for overseeing all operational, sales
and marketing activities. Gaskin has more than 25 years experience in the
hotel industry covering all facets of hotel operations, including key roles
with Southern Pacific Hotel Corporation and Pan Pacific in hotels and resorts
in Thailand, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Fiji and Australia. |
Prabhjot
S Goomer has been appointed as director (HR) at Shangri-La, New Delhi.
He comes with over 18 years of experience in the hospitality industry having
held various
positions in HR and
administration. He started his career with Holiday Inn and moved on to Grand
Hyatt, New Delhi. His last assignment was at The Metropolitan Nikko, New
Delhi as Operations Head (HR and administration). |
Gulf
Air has named Swiss André Dosé as its new CEO. He has
more than 30 years experience in the aviation business. After the collapse
of the Swissair Group in October 2001, he was the driving force behind the
development of Switzerland's new national carrier SWISS. Dose has also served
as a consultant for various airlines, organizations and private equity
companies, besides being the chairman and member of several airline bodies.

Malhotra has joined as marketing manager for Finnish Tourist Board,
represented in India by Global Aviation Services. She has had a distinguished
career of over 20 years in different fields of the travel and tourism industry,
having previously worked with Singapore Airlines and leading corporate travel
agencies. Prior to this appointment, Malhotra was in charge of marketing
Thailand. |
The Board of The International
Ecotourism Society (TIES) has announced the hiring of a full time executive
director, Dave Sollitt, to run the Washington, DC-based global organisation,
as part of its institutional growth and development. Sollitt comes to TIES
from the private sector, where he had a varied career in regional, national
and international marketing and communications, including extensive work
with tourism-based clients.

as its F&B manager. He has 12 years of hotel industry experience, having
been associated with various brands including Marine Plaza, The Orchid and
Marriott (Renaissance Mumbai Hotel & Convention Centre) where he was
the beverage manager. |
Amod Mishra has joined the Mirador Hotel
as assistant restaurant manager. He has been with the industry for the last
four years and has worked with the Rodas Hotel Mumbai and Renaissance Mumbai
Hotel & Convention Centre, where he was the F&B executive.

the retirement of Jason Philip, the airline's sales and marketing manager
for India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhutan. He has been succeeded by Rakesh
Raicar, who is currently employed as Cathay's airport services manager,
Mumbai airport. He has been with Cathay since 1992. |
Real estate company Emaar-MGF has appointed Sanjay Malhotra as the chief
operating officer of the company, and has appointed Sanjiv Rai as the
chief operating officer of the hospitality vertical. Ishan Mehta has been
named chief human resource officer, and Susil S Dungarwal has been appointed
head retail for West and South region.

as a managing director, India. He is currently based in New York, and will
open the company's offices in Mumbai in the first quarter of 2007. Das'
hospitality expertise spans more than 15 years; during which time he has
crafted transactions in the US and internationally totaling more than US$
2 billion in value. |
Mahendra Doshi has been appointed as
the non-executive director on the TCIL board. An MBA from the USA, he brings
with him 25 years of experience in managing large establishments, business
units and strong execution capabilities. He has been the chairman of LKP
Group which has now been acquired by TCIL. |
