Vedant Hotels, Kamat Hotels enter into agreement
Vedant Hotels has entered into an agreement with Kamat Hotels (India) for management/operation
of The Hotel Vedant at Aurangabad, Maharashtra, for a period of 10 years beginning
February 16, 2007. As per the terms of the agreement, the hotel will be renamed
Lotus Vedant.
The management is of the opinion that, in the long run, this
association will prove to be mutually beneficial. the repairs and refurbishment
of the hotel is currently in progress.
Deccan Plaza eyes Chennai, Coimbatore
After the success of its maiden hotel venture in Royapetah, Chennai, Deccan's
Park, promoters of Days Inn Deccan Plaza, is planning to develop properties.
It plans to start two hotels - one on the IT highway (Old Mahabalipuram Road),
Chennai with 66 rooms, a restaurant, bar, business centre and conferencing facilities
at a cost of Rs 1,500 lakh, and the second in Coimbatore where details are still
to be worked out. According to Nirmal Gadhiya, its director, plans for the former
open by 2008.
Carlson Hotels added 78 new locations globally in 2006
Carlson Hotels Worldwide announced that 78 hotels and resorts were added to
its five-brand, global portfolio in 2006. The company ended the year with 938
hotels operating in 70 countries. The company's hotel brands include: Regent
Hotels & Resorts, Radisson Hotels & Resorts, Park Plaza Hotels &
Resorts, Country Inns & Suites By Carlson and Park Inn.
In November 2006, Carlson Hotels Worldwide signed a shareholder
agreement with Rezidor SAS, increasing its ownership of Rezidor Hotel Group
as Rezidor became a publicly traded company. Rezidor manages four of the Carlson
Hotel brands in the EMEA region.
Ramee Guestline adds 18 classically-designed rooms
The Ramee Group of Hotels & resorts, which caters to
the requirements of high profile business travellers as well as leisure tourist,
has added 18 classically-designed rooms to its property. These rooms will have
LCD TV, DVD players, other basic requirements of business travellers like tea/coffee
maker, express laundry, mini-bar, doctor on call, 24-hour room service, one-way
airport transfers by Toyota Innova car, etc. The Ramee Group has 29 properties
across India.
Appu Hotels set to expand in south
Appu Hotels, which owns Le Royal Meridien (part of US-based Starwood Hotels
& Resorts Worldwide), Chennai, is all set to spread its wings down south
and is in the process of setting up hotels - one each in Coimbatore, Puducherry
and Tuticorin. The company is setting up a Rs 250 crore five-star hotel in Coimbatore
and Rs 100 crore apartment hotel in Puducherry. However, it is still scouting
for land in Tuticorin for its third hotel, for which investment figures have
not yet been finalised.
Nalina Saravana, director (Operations) at Le Royal Meridien, Chennai, said,
"The Coimbatore hotel will have around 250 rooms, while the Puducherry
apartment hotel and the Tuticorin hotel will have 150 rooms each. We are also
planning to increase the total number of rooms by 450 in the three hotels by
the end of 2009, with an investment of Rs 350 crore."
