HCIMA organises workshop to hone leadership skills

EH Staff - Mumbai

Trainers Forum in association with Synergy Relationship Management Services and HCIMA (Hotel & Catering International Management Association) had recently organised a workshop at Hotel Lotus Suites Mumbai for the benefit of members, which was attended by 35 people from various industry verticals. It started with Avril Sule, senior instructor (Accommodation Management) at IHMCT, Mumbai introducing the trainers. Arun Vishwanath, head (Training & Development) at RKHS made a presentation on Trainers Forum and HCIMA activities.

The first topic was on leadership conducted by Preeti Sharma Menon, MD of Synergy Relationship Management Services. An interactive format was adopted, with videos, discussions and case studies. In the post-lunch session, participants were transported into the surreal world by way of stories. Rajesh Krishnan from the Talent Transformation Team of Reliance Retail was the next facilitator on 'Strategic Story Telling' session. The various aspects that need to be covered to narrate a compelling story were discussed in the exercise, including body language.

The competencies required for the exercise were explained and participants were required to present a short story in three minutes. Krishnan scored the participants on a scale of one to three and gave individual feedback on areas of strengths and areas for improvement. The entire session was recorded on video and a copy of it was given to all participants, enabling them to focus on each session. The icing on the cake was a special gift from the hotel management. Ranjan Gupta, GM of Lotus Suites, was gracious enough to give the participants a wristwatch on behalf of the hotel.
