Mandara Spa enters India

Sahil Spa to develop world class spa at Alibaug

Bhavika Jhaveri - Pune

Pune-based Sahil Spa & Resorts has entered into a deal with Mandara Spa to develop a world class spa across all its future properties including Alibaug, which is slated to open early next year. Mandara Spa specialises in developing and maintaining spas and runs a series of hotels in Indonesia.

According to Vinay Phadnis, chairman and managing director of Sahil Spa & Resorts, the concept of a spa is still in its infancy, but the growing interest in wellness trend has made spas a fixture in resorts and city hotels. "Mandara Spa will be an important element in our all our properties," he says.

The Sahil group, a Pune-based real estate developer with an annual turnover of Rs 15 crore, forayed into the spa and resorts segment last year with the launch of Sahil Spa & Resorts in Lonavala.

Speaking about future plans, Phadnis informs, "Considering the tourism boom in Sri Lanka, we are acquiring a property there to be operated and marketed by Radisson Hotels. The 148-room property will open in October 2007." It had entered into a marketing, operating and franchising tie-up with Radisson Hotels early this year.
