Wyndham to enter India

To focus on its top-line Wyndham brand

Bhavika Jhaveri - Mumbai

Taking a cue from its international counterparts in the Indian hotel market, Wyndham Hotel Group is to enter India with its bouquet of brands. High on its agenda is the introduction of its premier brand Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, along with Ramada and Ramada Plaza brands, that have already made their presence felt in the Indian market. Also on cards is its effort to try and penetrate the budget segment with its Super 8 brand. Days Inn, though, has already made its appearance in the Indian market through the master-franchisee route, however the group is now open to expand this brand either with or without its current arrangement.

Confirming this development, Olivier F.P Dupont, VP, international development - Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific, Wyndham Hotel Group, said, "The Indian market is exploding and opportunities for our high-end and economy brands is huge. Besides, the improvement in infrastructure in India has prompted us to foray into this market."

Following its tie-up with Chender Baljee-led Royal Orchid Hotels for its Ramada brand, Wyndham is scouting for partners. For its upscale brands it is looking out for management contracts, whereas for its economy brands like Super 8 and Days Inn it will opt for franchise route.
