Sarovar signs hotel deals in Dubai, Muscat

EH Staff - Mumbai

Indian multi-brand hotel management company, Sarovar Hotels, has announced its foray into West Asia and has reportedly signed deals for three- and four-star hotels in Dubai and Muscat. It is also looking at other cities in the Middle East.

Anil Madhok, managing director of Sarovar Hotels, says, "We were approached by a local hospitality chain in Dubai and Muscat and we have accepted the proposal after doing due diligence." While the one in Dubai will be a brownfield project, the Muscat project is slated to be a greenfield one with 150 rooms. It will be operational in 18 months, he said.

The company might use its own brand or seek permission to use Park Plaza or Park Inn brands of Carlson Hospitality Worldwide, with which it has a tie up. "Though we don't have the right to use Carlson's brands in the Middle East, we have asked them for permission to use either of their brands. We might also go ahead with one of our own brand names for the hotels," Madhok adds.

Back home, the company is investing Rs 250 crore on its five brands - Park Plaza, Park Inn, Sarovar Premier, Sarovar Portico and Hometel. "We are hoping that we are able to add 1,500 rooms through our owned and managed properties in next the two years," says Madhok. Special economic zones are also areas of interest for Sarovar Hotels to build its Hometel brand.
