Jaypee Group to foray into budget segment

Jaypee Group is all set to diversify its brand by offering hotels in the mid-market
segment. Speaking to Express Hospitality, Manju Sharma, director - operations
and finance - Jaypee Group informed that it will be rolling out a few hotels
by the time the Commonwealth Games begun in the capital in 2010. "The budget
hotels will be positioned in the three-star category but will offer all the
five-star comfort and will be launched only in Northern India. We haven't finalised
the brand name yet," she said.
However, Sharma refused to divulge further any investment details or the accrual
source.
Mukesh Singhal, VP operations, Jaypee Vasant Continental informed, "Jaypee
Group is also constructing a 350-room hotel at its 450 acre land in Greater
Noida, which comes under our mixed-use plan project - the Jaypee Green."
The project consists of 25 cottages, a 197 acres 18-hole golf course, residences,
a resort, integrated sports complex, lakes, landscaped parks and a spa. "The
construction will begin in the next two months and initially we will open only
150 rooms, and later on the capacity will be increased to 350 rooms. The property
will be operational before the 2010 Commonwealth Games," Singhal added.
The Jaypee Group is also eyeing a property at Jaipur as the
next five-star destination to complete its presence in the third-leg of the
golden triangle circuit. The group has also undertaken extensive renovation
plans for its Agra, Mussoorie and Delhi properties.
