Concept Hospitality to form partnership firm in Doha

To build, acquire and manage hotels; promote hospitality education

Sanjeev Bhar - New Delhi

Expanding its operations, Mumbai-based Concept Hospitality Limited (CHL) is likely to tie up with a Doha-based company to form a new partnership firm. Speaking to Express Hospitality, Param Kannampilly, director, CHL said, "We are in talks with a Doha-based company to form a new venture which will build and acquire hotel properties apart from venturing into a management alliance for existing and upcoming properties. We are yet to sign the MOU for the partnership firm, which is expected to take place in a couple of months. We will be investing in the venture in terms of hospitality management expertise."

According to Kannampilly, the new venture would be focussing on refurbishing and re-structuring existing hotel properties, in addition to building service apartments. Kannampilly explained, "The future projects offered by our new company at Doha will adhere to standards similar to Ecotel i.e. environment friendly, as we intend to promote that concept." The joint venture has also plans for setting up a hotel management institute for imparting education on hospitality.

CHL had already made its mark by introducing the Ecotel concept for a Qatar-based hotel group at Doha. The new partnership is a step towards consolidating its base in the Middle East. The Orchid Group of Hotels (managed by CHL) recently won IRCTC bids for hotels at Vijaywada and Madurai in a joint venture approach. "We are also bidding for Chandigarh and Secunderabad projects and are pretty hopeful for the same," Kannampilly concluded.
