Mayfair Hospitality to add hotels to its portfolio

Group seeks to expand pan-India operations

Neeti Mehra - Mumbai

Mayfair Hospitality, is planning to add hotels to its portfolio as part of its expansion plans in south India and Gujarat, with an investment of Rs 100 crore in its first phase of development. Currently, its sub-brand Mayfair Celebrations, which offers an entire bouquet of catering and banqueting solutions, is present in three cities, and is looking to augmenting its presence in Mumbai (North Mumbai) and Delhi (West Delhi, Noida and Gurgaon).

Speaking to Express Hospitality, Srinidhi Rao, COO (food retail business), Mayfair Hospitality, said, "Our hospitality business strategy is to give solutions with anything to hospitality in a city. Our entry in a city will not only focus on offering banqueting only, but within a year, hotels too." The company is also looking at tying-up with a real estate company to further their growth strategy, and is currently on a negotiations stage.

"We are targeting a turnover of 100 crores in 5 years time, from a current level of Rs 20 crores. We are looking at a hub-and-spoke strategy, to establish a key city first before moving on to tertiary cities in the vicinity, and our focus will be on tier-1 and tier-2 cities," he says. The group is also eyeing malls to set-up their banqueting facilities, with a minimum of 10,000 sq feet of square area, with indoor and outdoor space. "We can convert mall terraces into saleable space, it is an avenue not looked at by other smaller players,' he adds.

The Group is also planning to revamp its existing banqueting facilities in consonance with the upward shift in the lifestyle curve within the first phase of development, and has already redone its menu, including upgradation in quality of cuisine and its presentation, Rao reveals, with an emphasis on healthy preparation. The Group is also looking at providing a one-stop-shop solution through its sister brand Windsor Events to provide a whole range of solutions for the corporate and the wedding segment.
