HospitalityWorld - Going South 2006

The event is a sell out in Bangalore

Ramachandra Gowda, Minister for Planning, Science & Technology and Small Savings, Karnataka inaugurating the event

After the successful conduct of the HospitalityWorld trade show organised by Indian Express Business Publications Division in Mumbai in January 2006, and owing to exhibitor feedback received thereafter, the south of India is being recognised by the allied industries as an emerging hotspot for future hospitality and foodservice projects, besides the growing investment in corporate infrastructure and malls.

HospitalityWorld - Going South 2006 is a completely owned and driven Indian Express group initiative, held under the banner of Express Hospitality. Held from June 23 to 25, 2006 at the Kanteerva Stadium, Bangalore, the trade show was witness to more than 4,000 visitors during the three days and included over 125 stalls.

Inaugurating the event, Ramachandra Gowda, minister for Planning, Science & Technology and Small Savings, Karnataka, said, "Bangalore needs a show as big as this that caters only to the hospitality industry. Since Bangalore's hospitality is world-renowned and is on par with global hospitality standards, the allied industries that support it should also be given a similar status. The quality of the equipment industry is of great standards and is certainly one of the best I have seen."

The HospitalityWorld - Going South 2006 was supported by Karnataka Pradesh Hotels & Restaurants Association, Kerala Hotels & Restaurants Association, Bangalore Hotels Association, Hotel Owners of Munnar and Malabar Tourism Board.

Commenting on the success of the event, Sandeep Khosla, head of Business Publications Division, said, "Southern India is now facing a phenomenal boom in the hospitality industry and the exhibition is a natural outfall of that. Compared to the show that we had organised here three years ago, I see about 30 per cent increase in the number of exhibitors and in the quality of people who are walking in to see the show."
