Hotel management institute takes up lake project
EH Staff - Bangalore
Garden City College, one of the leading hotel management institutions in Karnataka,
has taken over the development of the 64-acre Krishnarajapuram Lake aka Vengaiah
Kere, in Bangalore, which will also feature floatels and eateries. The college
has been given the rights to develop, maintain and manage the lake for a period
of 25 years, with funds being arranged by the college management.
The lake project titled 'Garden City Lagoon' is to be managed by the Garden
City Environment Club. Dr V G Joseph, chairman, Garden City College says, "This
is an incredible opportunity for us to get the best out of our students. The
floatels and other eateries that are to be built on the lake would be entirely
managed by our hotel management students. In addition to this, we are planning
to rope in our travel and tourism post graduate students into the project, so
that they can learn the basics of hospitality."
Cleaning of the 64-acre lake has already started and it will be another six
months before leisure activity can be spotted on the lake. The college is planning
to introduce water sports and boating apart from the golf course they plan to
develop near the lake.
