Travel site Mobissimo widens hotel search in India
Sanjeev Bhar- New Delhi
Travel search engine Mobissimo will
offer a wide hotel search option for India by October this year. Speaking to Express Hospitality, Beatrice Tarka, co-founder and CEO of Mobissimo says, "If
reducing time for travel through enhanced search is important then the same is
applicable for hotel search too. The option for hotels is very large, which is
never visible through global distribution systems (GDS) and individual hotel search
consumes time. Hence our search engine would allow people to access offers from
all hotels across India."
The search engine launched
its India version - Mobissimo.in - to attract online travel search for inbound,
outbound and domestic travellers. Tarka revealed, "In October we plan to
revamp our existing hotel search option with a new 2.0 interface where search
criteria like search by hotel name, star rating, distance, display of maps, etc.,
will be made available. We are also going to allow individual hotels owners to
list their offerings on our site."
The company has
already received offers from leading Indian hotel chains for advertising on the
website. Tarka clarified that unlike GDS, the tie-ups won't help hotels to appear
higher in online search conducted by users. The website, though, would enable
partner hotels to know of the trends in popular destinations, booking patterns,
occupancy rates and key information required for strategy planning. Mobissimo.in
will also include camping accommodation, design/luxury hotels, yoga retreats and
ashrams in the 'Activities Section' on the website.
