Neeti Mehra - Mumbai

Boutique hotels, airline catering units, fine dining restaurants, fast food brands, sports bar and now a leisure club. Sanjay Narang owned-Mars Restaurants Private Ltd. launched their first Waterstones Country Club Resort and Spa in Mumbai this month. Speaking on the launch, Narang said, "Waterstones Country Club and Spa is a leisure club with the latest facilities and amenities on par with the world's best international clubs. It includes facilities such as an Olympic sized pool, aerobic centre, fully-equipped gym, sauna, steam, jacuzzi and massage area."

Spread over six acres of land, it also houses a library or the Games Room which includes pool tables, carrom boards, table tennis and card tables. For children there is a play room and a day care centre. The food and beverage facilities include 'The White Barn', a round-the-clock casual dining restaurant, Van Gogh's bar and lounge and indoor and outdoor banqueting facilities. "The most striking feature of the club shall however be the vast expanse of lush green landscaped gardens spread over five acres which shall include walking trails, jogging tracks, streams, exotic plants and foliage that spectacularly light up at night," he says. Sports activities will include tennis, squash, badminton, basketball and volleyball. Membership is strictly by invitation, with the number of members limited to 1000.

On the same premises, Narang also plans to open his second Gordon House Hotel by June this year. The guests staying at the Gordon House Hotel will be able to access the facilities at Waterstones Country Club and Spa. "The concept of the rooms - the furnishing and interiors will be completely different," he says. The group plans to plough in Rs 100 crore each year for the next three years across all brands.
