Starwood to set up office in India
Following the footsteps of other internationally renowned hotel companies like Hyatt International, InterContinental, Carlson, Choice, Cendant and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has firmed up its plans to establish an area representative office in the country to further its expansion agenda.

Revival goes non-veg after 14 years
Vegetarian niche restaurant of 14 years, Revival is now going non-vegetarian as part of the high-street premises' first overhaul. The restaurant has also been renamed Fine Dine, the second for Encore Hospitality which debuted the brand at Inorbit Mall in Mulund last year.

Orchid Ecotel ventures into Raipur
Furthering its plan to venture into secondary cities of India, Orchid Ecotel Hotel would be seen in Raipur, Chhattisgarh by end of 2006. This venture would be completely owned and managed by the group and would be a five star property.

Taj checks into Sydney
The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), which operates 73 hotels in India and abroad, has announced the purchase of a 100-room, five-year old hotel, located in close proximity to the central business district of Woolloomooloo Bay, Sydney. The hotel is currently operated by the Starwood Group and is amongst the top five hotels in Sydney.

Chennai developers plan 5-star hotel chain
Vijay Mahtaney, managing director of ACL is close to finalising plans to establish a chain of five-star hotels in Chennai, Coimbatore and Hyderabad.

Govt plans hygiene index for eateries
Hyderabad-based National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management (NITHM), a joint initiative of the State and Union Governments, is planning to roll out consultancy services in niche areas of tourism and hospitality services.
