Innovations In Design Centres

Express Hospitality takes a look at Hafele's newly launched design centres that showcase fixtures in a fully functional way to facilitate decision-making

Just when one thought that design centres and showrooms couldn't get any more innovative, they just do. Hafele India, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hafele Gmbh, which is a global supplier of furniture fittings and architectural hardware, recently launched its design centres in Bangalore and New Delhi. These are Hafele's first design centers, which will be followed by another centre in Mumbai.

The difference between these centres and a conventional showroom stems from the fact that these centres showcase most products that are fully functional in a living environment. It does not have a hard selling environment; it simply wants to give ideas and help provide solutions for all kinds of applications. The Hafele design centre range consists of more than 80,000 fittings for furniture, kitchens, doors and a variety of glass applications.

Its innovation can be experienced through the different areas that Hafele has created for its fittings:

  • An office seminar room environment which includes sliding/folding room dividers, the 'Exterus' glass sliding system, the 'Idea' table and desk systems, ceiling lift for projectors, etc.
  • The living room displays several glass sliding solutions for furniture, UV gluing of fittings to glass as well as the plasma lift.
  • The kitchen concentrates on 'Blum' hinges and drawer systems as well as different Hafele kitchen fittings.
  • Walk-in wardrobes showcase different sliding solutions, specialty hinges and a range of internal wardrobe fittings. It also showcases the first electronic locking solution for furniture - the 'Dialock Furniture Terminal'.
  • Bathrooms and the shower cubicle mock-up show glass fittings for shower enclosures.
  • The bedroom has the 'Al Fresco', the only external sliding folding system and its wooden bed supports.

According to Jurgen Wolf, MD of Hafele India, "These are just a few highlights of the many fittings that can be found in the Hafele design centres. Everything is presented in a working and living environment. In this way our customers can not only look at our fittings but actually operate them and experience the function. This will help in the decision making process and provide new ideas for designs previously not conceived due to the lack of proper fittings."
