While the rain Gods favoured hotels across the city of Mumbai, they
didn't look down too kindly on the restaurant industry. Reportedly,
the Mumbai restaurant industry of over 2000 outlets suffered estimated
losses to the tune of Rs 10-15 crore in property damages and loss
of business on account of the torrential rains.

To Boast Of A 150-Room Hotel
Thiruvananthapuram will soon witness the entry of a 5-star hotel
in another year with 150-rooms in the heart of the city. The hotel
will be owned entirely by the family of D S Reddy, Vice Chairman
of Oriental Hotels Ltd, which runs Taj Coromandel, Chennai, in association
with Indian Hotels Ltd.

PVR Group To Build Integrated Mall In Chennai
Ampa Housing Development has announced the launch of Ampa Center
One, a social hub and an integrated mall in Chennai. The 50 crore
project is awaiting its final approval from CMDA and is expected
to start functioning from September 2006.

The Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) reported a net profit of Rs
16.91 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2005, a 164.2 per cent
growth over Rs 6.4 crore reported in the corresponding quarter the
previous fiscal.

The Ahmedabad-based Ganesh Housing Corporation Ltd (GHCL), a real
estate and infrastructure company, plans to foray into hospitality
and entertainment sectors with a five-star hotel and shopping malls
at an investment of Rs 100 crores.
