the lead of market leader United Breweries India's 85-90 million
cases beer market is set to witness a fresh round of consolidation
with SABMiller upping its stake to 99 per cent in its India joint
venture Shaw Wallace Breweries. With a 33 per cent share of Indian
beer market, SABMiller is now within striking distance of Vijay
Mallya's United Breweries which has a 45 per cent share of the market.

Opens First Outlet In Kolkata
Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) recently unveiled plans for an all-India
rollout of the brand at the launch of its Kolkata outlet. The restaurant
chain that already has five outlets in Bangalore and one each in
Pune and Chandigarh is looking at opening approximately 12 outlets
across the country by the end of 2005.

Khan Forays Into Restaurant Biz
Mumbai has Tendulkar's, Kolkata's got Saurav's The Food Pavillion,
Pune will now see cricketer Zaheer Khan set up an 8,000 square feet
hotel that spans three levels. A multi-cuisine restaurant occupies
the ground level and seats 92 people, a 50-seater banquet hall is
on level one and on level two is ZK's lounge.
