‘The Indian Market Has Immense Potential’

HVS India achieved a unique distinction in hosting India’s first-ever investment conference for the hospitality industry. Find out what Stephen Rushmore, president and founder, HVS International had to say to Savio Rodrigues on the conference and the group’s plans for India...

EH&C: What were the factors that inspired HVS to host an investment conference for the South Asian market?

Stephen Rushmore: In the globe scene, the South Asian markets have been booming. Hotel business is on a high with good occupancies and RevPars. More so the South Asian market is witnessing a surge in tourists both domestic and international. These factors have generated a great interest in the American and European markets and many hotel brands have been keen on setting hotels in the region. It is on this premise that the HVS India office marched forward to host a hotel investment conference which is a platform for hoteliers both Indian and International to meet.

Why India and not some other destination like Singapore?

India and China are the two power nations in the Asian turf especially in the hotel and tourism sector with vast investment opportunities. And therefore the company had planned to host the investment conference in both countries.

The HVS Executive Search and Ecotel certification have been successful ventures of HVS in India. Any new services HVS International plans to introduce to India?

HVS as a company has a plethora of services to offer on a global scale. We plan to promote our brokerage and asset management services aggressively in most countries and India is on our list as countries in which these services will be introduced

What are your expectations from HICSA?

We expect that the Indian hotel industry will appreciate our endeavour to create a platform for high-power networking as well as learning.
