Classic Hotels And Resorts Charts Out Expansion Plan

EH&C Staff - New Delhi

Classic Hotels and Resorts is planning to open at least 14 new properties in various parts of the country by 2008. The new ventures would be a mix of three-star properties and resorts. The company has identified Rajasthan and Uttaranchal as potential destinations but could not provide specific details on locations and investment, terming the latter as 'significant'.

Classic currently has two 'well established' properties in Kasaar and Kausani in Uttaranchal besides which it is promoting seven other properties in Uttaranchal.

A H Afroz, director, Classic Hotels and Resorts, said, "We would like to take up existing non-operational properties at good locations in the country. But at present, the reason we are focusing on Uttaranchal and Rajasthan is to balance the domestic and international traffic. In Uttaranchal, we generally cater to domestic tourists, especially from Mumbai and Gujarat and to get a slice of international business, we are planning hotels in almost each destination in Rajasthan."

With respect to the facilities that the new properties will offer, he said they would have all the facilities of a boutique hotel. Afroze added, "Our properties will not only be value for money but will offer a pleasant experience. There would be no competition to our properties as far as facilities, comforts, décor, ambience and of course the overall quality is concerned. “
