Hyderabad Experiences Mongolian

Charmaine Fernz, Hyderabad

The Pepsi tagline 'Yeh Dil Mange More' is very much like the Indian palette, which in today's global scenario demands variety. It is this need for an assortment of cuisine that has the Taj Banjara Hyderabad bring in the Mongolian Grill experience to the city.

Explaining the actual concept of the Mongolian Grill, Maheep Tiwari, restaurant manager, Taj Banjara, says, "An interactive concept of cooking in which the guest participates as much as the person who is cooking. One can choose from an array of vegetables, meats, seasonings and sauces. The meats and vegetables are finely shredded to facilitate faster cooking. The grill itself is shaped like an inverted wok which ensures that most of the cooking medium used is non-existent, making the food healthy and light, and the special metal used for the making of the grill lends a typical flavour to the cooked product along with taste. Mongolian grill food gives guest the satisfaction of seeing their combination of foods cooked right before them, making one a chef in your own right."

Elaborating on the cuisine, Tiwari adds, "The Mongolian Grill has returned to our property for the third time. Mongolian food tends to be rather bland by most Asian and Western standards as it mainly consists of meats and semi-raw vegetables. Nonetheless, the dishes are fairly simple and easy to prepare. Our chefs here do not use the exact measurements, as most Mongol cooks would never think of actually measuring anything out. The food consists of soups, salads, meats and grills. The buffet will showcase variety like nislel potato salad, boodg (lamb preparation), karshol (black soup), nogotishol (soup with vegetables) and guriltai shol (soup with flour noodles) and the grill."

Subsequently, the Taj Banjara has also introduced Smorgasboard, a lavish Dutch buffet, which is a compromise between breakfast and lunch on a Sunday afternoon at the Waterside Café. The focus of this Sunday brunch would be on the food from two specialty restaurants of the Taj Banjara. There will be Thai cuisine from Strings, and kebabs from kebab-E-bahar. An induction to international style of eating habits - the Chef will prepare live Salads, whips and nutrition shakes like avocado and honey mix, red papaya and pumpkin seed mix. One can also relish oysters, smoked salmon and egg benedict's. For vegetarians, there will be a variety of antipastas, bagels and footlongwiches. A glass of Champagne based cocktails only adds to the Sunday Exotica.
