ISO 9001:2000 For Club Mahindra’s Lakeview Resort

Susan George - Chennai

Club Mahindra's Lakeview Resort, Munnar, has received the ISO 9001:2000 quality certificate for living up to its objective of providing family holidays to its members and guests. Launched in April 1998, Lakeview Resort is also the first full-fledged timeshare resort in India to be granted the international certification by the Germany-based auditing agency, TUV. Presenting the certificate, Anil Rairikar, CEO, TUV India Limited, commented that the ISO certificate was a tool for achieving the vision of the company - that of being the dominant lifetime holiday company in south and south east Asia.

Arun Nanda, chairman, Club Mahindra Holidays, asserted that, delivering the "holiday experience" should remain the hallmark of their resorts. "It is easy to build a good property. We should strive to give people a holiday to remember," said Nanda. Having formulated an explicit manual for quality processes, ISO certification recognises that Club Mahindra has adhered to those policies with consistency.

According to Ravi Santhanam, CEO, Club Mahindra, the certification marks the beginning of a much larger process. "We now have the software in place. We need to embark on getting the ISO 14001 certificate for being an environmentally friendly resort," he said.
